I wish, Father, I could talk to You face-to-face
Ask questions and receive answers
Know more clearly what is right, what’s wrong,
What can be done, what should be done,
How to behave and how to be
I wish I could ask these things…

It remains a great mystery
Blurry words shrouded in fog
What can they mean… I know You are here, but why so distant?
You’re nearer than everyone…yet so far away
I wish I were more faithful to know You more clearly
Ought I (to) be a man dissatisfied with what You’ve given me?
Surely not… Though it is hard to endure

Aid me in this quest to know You,
That one day things may not be so confusing;
That I may know You more intricately,
And be a servant of Your most holy will
